Meet the new UOHI Patient Alumni Board Members! Introducing Lucie Gauthier!
In 2014, I was diagnosed with a malformation of the aortic valve. In order to relieve the problems it was causing to my health, I was hospitalized at the UOHI and provided with the best of care to stabilize my heart. In March of 2015 I received my new mechanical valve and once again the Heart Institute went above and beyond to ensure I walked out with a better quality of life. After a long stay at the hospital and going through their rehabilitation program I realized I needed to give back by supporting women that have been through a heart related event.
Therefore in 2016, I joined the Women@Heart Peer Support Leader program to provide support and knowledge to women who survived a heart event. After retiring in 2021 as a Change Management Manager at Canada Post, I had more time to dedicate to the Heart Institute, so I joined the Patient Alumni’s Board of Directors in 2022 to be part of a great team of people whose mission is to be the voice of the patient.
