Put Your Heart Into Tickers Cooking

The University of Ottawa Heart Institute Patient Alumni is launching a new initiative to help its members achieve a healthier lifestyle.

The launch is planned for Monday, January 16, 2017 at 5:30 PM in Tickers, the restaurant located on the main floor of the Heart Institute, 40 Ruskin Street. The title of the first lesson is “Plant Based Cooking”.

In this program we will be showcasing two recipes with a cooking demonstration. During the demo we will be talking about how plant based proteins are linked to heart health. Both recipes will be distributed to the members so they may enjoy them at home.

The session will be given by Justin Scott, Executive Chef for Marek Food. Justin is well known for his cooking demonstrations for the LCBO and at the House of Commons. Also present will be Kathleen Turner, the UOHI Registered Dietitian, to answer your questions.

The cost of attendance is $20.00. All the proceeds will go directly to the UOHI Foundation as Marek Food has graciously agreed to absorb all costs for this demonstration.

Attendees will receive parking vouchers for free parking in the parking lot across from the main entrance to the Heart Institute.
