On Tuesday, February 20, 2018 the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Patient Alumni hosted the fourth “Put Your Heart Into Tickers” event. As usual, it was a sold out event.

Over 40 guests watched as Executive Chef, Elamri Samir from Marek Hospitality, demonstrated how to prepare two delicious and healthy recipes. The first recipe was a Carpaccio of Roasted Beets appetizer, followed by oven-roasted Salmon with Vegetables as the main dish.

Chef Samir was assisted by Kathleen Turner, the Heart Institute’s Registered Dietician. She provided information about the cooking ingredients and techniques, then followed up with a Q and A from the audience.

Generous portions of the colorful and artfully prepared dishes were served to the attendees so they could taste the results first hand. The consensus from the participants was that it was delicious.

Thanks to everyone who signed up for this event. Any profits from the evening will go to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation. A special thank you goes out to Chef Samir, dietician Kathleen Turner, and Tickers restaurant for hosting this event.
